Updates

Nice weather today. Love it. Love the rain. Love the smell of the rain.
淋?雨的空气特?香。

Have been busy the past few weeks preparing for the Monbusho written exam and oral interview. I think a miracle need to happen for me to be awarded the scholarship. I can keep dreaming for now. Besides dreaming, I have been kept busy with the school work piled up, it's almost going to topple and bury me.

I remember a question posed to me at the interview:
Q:あなたの短所は何ですか。(What is your weakness?)
A:忙しいとき、仕事に心を集中して、周りの人にあまり気づかないというところです。
I was attempting to say that when I am busy, I tend to neglect or not notice the people around me. 本当かどうか、分からない。

Right now, I am looking forward to the holidays. Not that I have much to look forward to, but at least there will be a temporary break from routine.

Little Thailand

Ventured into Singapore's very own "Little Thailand" today.
For the module, Introduction to Southeast Asia, I have to write a short paper on my observations any one SEAsian community in Singapore.

I chose to go to Golden Mile Complex to observe the Thai community.
I wish I could go to Thailand for real, like Weiyang. *envy...
A pretty hot day..
As we approach Golden Mile Complex, we saw many Thais gathered around the HDB void decks, having their own mini-picnic or drinking session. Some looked drunk, most were busy chatting..

Just outside the complex, one can find the 4-faced Buddha:

Many of the Thais gathered just about any open space they could find:

Entering the complex, one can almost feel like been transported to Thailand. The Thai songs blasts at your ears and most of the signs are written in Thai. This stall seemed rather sleazy with its alluring red lighting and beer hostesses:
Located on the 2nd level is a Thai Supermarket. Erm, at the frozen/fresh food area is some exotic food not found in the shelves of Cold Storage, Giant and the likes.
